Official language school Banyoles celebrates its 10th birthday

Last Thursday, 8th October 2015, the Official Language School (OLS) of Banyoles, which has been inaugurated in 2005, celebrated its 10th birthday. This event was celebrated in l’Ateneu, an important auditorium of the town, where some of the most important figures related to this public language school gave a talk.
The event took place at 6:00pm and a lot of students attended to this interesting speech. The main participants were Annie Gili, principal of the school, Albert Bayot, director of the Educational department in Girona, Miquel Noguer, mayor of the town and Sabestià Serrano, linguist and communication expert. However, the teachers of the school also participated in the talk.
All of them remarked that all this project has been a challenge, and the results have been excellent, so their evaluation was positive in the majority of the aspects. As soon as Miquel Noguer took the microphone, he congratulated the school and encouraged teachers to follow on with their job. It’s important tot remember that this school, which is situated on Llibertat Street in Banyoles, offers the possibility to learn two languages, English and French. Right now, there are 400 students who are studying different levels of these languages. For this reason, Sebastià Serrano, who teaches at Barcelona University, was seriously aware of the importance of this event. Finally, Albert Bayot put emphasis on new projects and on the introduction of other languages, like Italian.
Annie Gili said proudly “we ran the risk but now the school is filled up”.

In conclusion, this project, which started like an experiment, has become one of the best-known official language schools in Catalonia.
