This video talks about the importance of the
relationship between the students and the teachers, the educators. Nowadays,
the majority of the people consider that it isn’t important this fact, but I
think that it really is. We stay a lot of hours at school every year, and, in my
point of view, the time that we spend together is one of the most important
things; for the students the teachers are very important, in some way, you are
our referents.

What happened on the 26th of December, 1998?
I’m going
to talk about what happened on the 26th of December 1998, the day when I was
born, which in Britain is called Boxing day.
I’ve
decided to talk about four pieces of news:
The first
one deals with a disaster in a night club in Peru , where nine young people died
at a Christmas party. The tragedy was caused by a teargas canister being thrown
into the over crowded night club. This caused panic and stampeded.
Another one
is about a series of earthquakes in California ,
USA .
Fortunately no-one was hurt, there was no real damage.
In another
hand, at Christmas the cold weather changed for a few days into a warm spell.
This meant that the citrus growers had a respite from trying to prevent their
crops from freezing. So, they were able to enjoy the holiday.
Finally, I
found this piece of news that has impacted me is that the day when I was born North Corea was preparing to launch another satellite
despite international opposition. Some months before that, North Corea has
fired a rocked that flew over Japan
and landed in the Pacific Ocean . It said that
the rocked launched a satellite. But, Japan
and the rest of the world thought that it was a ballistic missile, this is the
reason why they were against North Corea ’s
plan.

Official language school Banyoles celebrates its 10th birthday
Last Thursday, 8th October
2015, the Official Language School (OLS) of Banyoles, which has been
inaugurated in 2005, celebrated its 10th birthday. This event was
celebrated in l’Ateneu, an important auditorium of the town, where some of the
most important figures related to this public language school gave a talk.
The event took place at 6:00pm and a
lot of students attended to this interesting speech. The main participants were
Annie Gili, principal of the school, Albert Bayot, director of the Educational
department in Girona, Miquel Noguer, mayor of the town and Sabestià Serrano,
linguist and communication expert. However, the teachers of the school also
participated in the talk.
All of them remarked that all this
project has been a challenge, and the results have been excellent, so their
evaluation was positive in the majority of the aspects. As soon as Miquel
Noguer took the microphone, he congratulated the school and encouraged teachers
to follow on with their job. It’s important tot remember that this school,
which is situated on Llibertat Street
in Banyoles, offers the possibility to learn two languages, English and French.
Right now, there are 400 students who are studying different levels of these
languages. For this reason, Sebastià Serrano, who teaches at Barcelona University ,
was seriously aware of the importance of this event. Finally, Albert Bayot put
emphasis on new projects and on the introduction of other languages, like
Italian.
Annie Gili said proudly “we ran the
risk but now the school is filled up”.
In conclusion, this project, which
started like an experiment, has become one of the best-known official language
schools in Catalonia .

Informal email
Hi Laura!
Sorry, I haven't written for so long. I'm writing because some days ago you sent me an email asking for information about Girona, so now I'm going to give you some advice.
As you know, I haven't travelled a lot in my life; for this reason the best-known city for me is Girona. I don't know exactly where the best places to go are, I consider that there are a lot of nice places in my city. But, apart from that, I think that there are some beautiful spots which you can't miss!
Firstly, you should go to a village near Girona: Banyoles. It is a little town but there are a lot of impressive spots. You can go to the lake. It is a quiet place where there are a lot of people walking, fishing; all in all, having a good time. You can also visit Darder museum. Sometimes they hold interesting exhibitions there, I love it!
On the other hand, you should visit some parts of Girona, where you will have the hotel. For example, in this city there are old bridges which are beautiful, some of them have an interesting story, ask about it! You can also visit the Cathedral; some books talk about this place!
You are my best friend and I rely on you: probably your choice will be better than mine, but I just wanted to help you if it's possible.
Finally, I want to suggest an idea: I think that if you feel like it and your parents agree, we could share this experience together! I know the city and I can help you discover something new;)
Looking forward to your answer!
Love,
Mònica
